Delivering user-centric applications on the Adobe Flash Platform using Flex and AIR

SQLite Tools

with one comment

Once again I have been working with SQLite within Adobe AIR.  I use a couple of database visualisation tools to access the database, both of which are a little bit like TOAD (for those of you who remember that far back).

Lita, is a standalone AIR application.

SQLite Manager is a Firefox plugin.

The benefit of the Lita application is that you can launch it from your OS, wheras the SQLite Manager you have to launch from Firefox’s tools menu. I usually prefer using Lita as I find that using SQLite Manager interferes with my browser usage; however, when I want a second opinion on a database file or want that little bit of extra functionality, I use SQLite Manager.

In addition to the above tools, if you want an IBatis like Flex API for accessing SQLite within AIR, then check out Peter Martin’s work here

  1. Take a look on a free tool — Valentina Studio. Amazing product! IMO this is the best manager for SQLite for all platforms. http://www.valentina-db.com/en/valentina-studio-overview
